Firefly
An asset register for scanned buildings: every property, every capture and every record, in one place
The challenge
The FireFly Company digitises buildings. Its teams LiDAR-scan commercial property for owners, agents, investors and tenants, from single sites to whole precincts, and turn the scans into verified as-built models, plans and visual records. The capture side was mature; what the client received was not. Deliverables arrived as files, scattered across emails, drives and portals, and a portfolio manager with dozens of buildings had no single place to see what had been captured, when, what it covered and where the latest version lived. Firefly needed the register to match the quality of the scan: one platform where every asset, every capture and every record is accounted for, for the client as much as for Firefly itself.
The solution
We designed and built the Firefly asset register: a web platform and mobile app where a client's portfolio lives as structured records rather than files. Each property carries its building and property numbers, category and type, the capture dates, the orders behind them and the models, plans and photography they produced, with a download history so everyone knows who took what and when. A capture schedule shows what is booked and what is due, quotes are raised and tracked in the same place, and the whole thing is built to take live data from connected sensors in the buildings themselves, so the register can grow from a record of what was scanned into a picture of how the asset is performing.

In their words

“Our capture work was world class, but what the client received was a folder of files. Handee turned that into a register: every property, every scan, every version, in one place. It has changed how our clients see what they own, and how we deliver.”
What we built
The register, piece by piece
What a portfolio manager needs to trust the record, and what Firefly's own teams need to run the captures behind it.
- 01
A record per asset
Property and building numbers, category and type, address and photography, with every capture and order attached to the building it belongs to.
- 02
A portfolio at a glance
Properties, total building area, recent activity and the latest downloads, so the state of the whole portfolio is one screen.
- 03
Capture schedule
What is booked, what is due and what has been delivered, tied to the orders and quotes behind each scan.
- 04
Deliverables with a history
Models, plans and visual records versioned per capture, and a download history that says who took what and when.
- 05
The register in hand
The same records on a phone: search a portfolio, open a property on site and check the latest capture without a laptop.
- 06
Built for live data
The data model and APIs are designed so readings from connected sensors in the building sit alongside the scan, ready for the IoT side of the asset.
In a nutshell
The Firefly asset register turns LiDAR deliverables into a living record of a property portfolio: one entry per asset, every capture and order accounted for, deliverables versioned with a download history, and a capture schedule and quotes in the same place, on the web and on a phone. It is built to take live sensor data next, so the register can describe how a building performs as well as how it was built. Designed and built end to end for The FireFly Company .
